My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

While Patticake has turned the corner in socialization (finally), she is a medical disaster. We will consider adopting her to a patient & understanding family. The prospective family must be prepared to spend thousands (yes, that's a lot) in medical bills for Patticake. Her issues that will arise are as follows:
Arthritis in back right paw: She is missing 1 toe & all tendons/ligaments around ankle area from being hit by a car (2009).
Arthritis in back right knee and back left knee: She has torn both ACLs (2010).
Femur-head removal for back left hip socket: When she was hit by a car (2009), her hip socket was broken however it didn't show on the xrays. When xrays were taken in 2010 (for ACLs), they saw the break in the hip socket & scarring. While there is no date for arthritis & femur-head removal, our vet said it will be inevitable when she gets older, 7ish years perhaps.
Unknown accidents to come: We refer to Patticake as Humpty Dumpty. If anything can go wrong, it will go wrong with Patticake. She is our $3000 dog. At least she will come to us for love now, right? She loves her leashwalks & is a very capable walker & player despite her issues. Jogging would be too much for her although running & romping in the backyard with her pals is never an issue. She can still jump, too, which means she needs minimum 6' fence (because she can climb a 4 foot fence, hence being hit by a car in 2009).

Patti Cake is a tiny Shepherd mix. If you look up Anatolian Shepherd Dog (use www.igive.com & choose Camp Chaos 37206 as your cause to raise money for us!), you will see a dog similar to her mom; father is unknown. Her birthday is February/March 2008. She weighs 45 perfect lbs. She checked into Camp after Commander Chaos rescued her from the streets of Nashville at 12 weeks old on May 22nd, 2008. She was the last of her litter rescued from under a barn after being born to a feral mama dog. Patti Cake has turned a corner with enjoying her 2-legged family members as much as her 4-legged ones! She comes to be petted to her Big Mama & Big Daddy; when visitors sit on the sofa, she will jump onto it & allow them to pet her. She gets excited (in her own quiet way) when it's time's for leash walks & sits patiently by the door while everyone gets leashed. We use a sprenger pronged collar always because she can get out of a collar & a harness if excited/scared. A loose Patticake is not desirable since she will not come to us when she is frightened & therefore would be in danger if got off leash when not in contained / fenced area.

Patti Cake has lost one of her weight-bearing digits on her back paw. She walks with a little limp, but it has gotten better so that you can barely tell. She can still jump on our bed, dig a hole, & run like the wind.

Patti Cake is a loving dog, coming to us to lick our fingers and smell our hands and take treats from us. We have gained her trust by doing things like leashing her--she comes to her kennel on command--and then sitting with her for TV time & brushing. Sitting and relaxing on the porch first and then the sidewalk with steak as a reward has helped her.

She loves to play catch in the backyard! Granted, she doesn't bring the ball back, but it gives me exercise to walk around and pick up the balls after she drops them.

If you are looking for a submissive yet playful, energetic, and outgoing buddy for you (and your own dog), Patti Cake may be the girl for you. She is an excellent sister to all of our pups, every day, all day. She will chase and run and loves to be chased while she's on the run. After she is caught, she will chew at the others from the bottom of a pile of puppies and wiggle her way to the top! She is a very committed & devoted companion for people, too, and Patti Cake will continue to grow with training, time, & love. All in all, Patti Cake is a sweet and soulful little girl, born on the rough streets and then raised without proper one-on-one attention. Her lack of confidence and social skills stem from these negatives, but she positively is a wonderful baby, looking for a family to give her the time and attention she craves.

She doesn't have accidents indoors. She is kenneled whenever left unattended (work, sleeping). We stopped kenneling her but she finds safety & comfort in the mansion, therefore, we keep her in it. If left out at night, she paces.

Patticake is spayed and up to date on vaccinations, bordetella, and rabies. Patti Cake is current on flea/tick preventatives as well as heartworm preventatives. She is microchipped by Avid.

All of the Camp Chaos dogs are indoor dogs with outdoor privileges. There are no exceptions. Thank you for understanding. Must be 25 years or older to apply.

Please email CampChaos37206@gmail.com for an application. CHECK YOUR SPAM FOLDER, PLEASE, FOR OUR REPLY EMAIL WITH APPLICATION ATTACHED. Adoption fee is $90. Thank you for wanting to share your home with one of our rescued pups!
