My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

PLEASE NOTE: We are listing this dog in the hopes of saving more dogs from a high-kill shelter in Tennessee. This dog has been fully vetted, spayed/neutered, and is currently being boarded in a vet facility in Tennessee, awaiting an adoptive home. Our friends in rescue, Tipton Treasures, have done all the work and now, you can reap the benefits! The Tipton County Animal Control has a 90% kill rate and something has to be done. For now, we are just trying to save as many dogs as we can. My Constant Companion will require an approved application (please go to the link below for our e-mail address and we will e-mail you our application) and will arrange the tranport. We use a professional tranport that runs bi-weekly that brings dogs in need to waiting rescues and adopters. These dogs will not be able to make the trip without an approved adopter awaiting them. The adoption fee of $375 helps to cover the veterinary and boarding bills for each dog (and does not even coming come close to actually covering the bills completely) and there is a $125 charge for the transport (this is fee the transporters charge and must be paid to them when the dog is picked up). You will be responsible for picking the dog up from the transport. The closest meeting place to the Wilmington/Philadelphia area is at the Walt Whitman Service Center on the NJ Turnpike in Trenton. Please also realize that this dog may need some extra housetraining work...the poor thing has gone from a shelter into a kennel, and we know that sometimes they need a refresher course! We realize that this is not the easiest or cheapest way to adopt, but it is very expensive to fully vet, board and transport dogs and this is the only way to save their lives! You will be rewarded with a lifetime of love and companionship.

We also ask that you PLEASE only contact us if you are truly interested in adopting one of these dogs...this is not the time for window shopping, unfortunately, as this could cause other dogs to lose their lives because of lack of space!

Zeke is a purebred red doberman that was dropped off at Tipton. His owners dropped him off after having him for five years because they said that "he has something wrong with his kidneys and he is going to die anyway..." Traci went to Tipton to see him and started to cry. He lost almost ten pounds in one week at Tipton from his condition and he looked sick, scared, and hopeless. Traci gave him a pillow for him to lie on so his bony body could be more comfortable and he looked up at her with the most grateful eyes. I told her to pull Zeke and we would figure out a way to pay for his care.. He is currently at Hillcrest eating and drinking great (has put some weight back on!) and the vet staff is in love.. He had a Barium swallow that revealed mega-esophagus (of unknown etiology) and Hillcrest has performed many more extensive tests. Now, Zeke is doing wonderfully! He is eating and drinking beautifully and has been gaining weight and starting to act like a guy that has some hope! The vets have determined that Zeke was born without a spleen, though this is not causing him any problems. They did find a spot in his esophogus that caused some concern, but his biopsy has come back and there is no cancer! As it turns out, all Zeke needs to be healthy is to eat and drink from elevated dishes, so that he doesn't have to bend his neck! Can you believe his owners threw him away like garbage over something that could be treated so easily?

Now this boy needs a loving, forever family to call his own. Do you love the breed? Do you think that Zeke deserves this second chance at happiness? Then please contact us ASAP...this boy had been without the love of his companion long enough.
