My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pizza is currently available for foster (or foster-to-adopt) only. She is still very shy and needs socialization in a home environment before she can be adopted.
Pizza is 4.5 years old and 80-90 lbs. She was rescued from a puppy mill in late January 2011, right before the temperatures plummeted below zero and the blizzard came. She would otherwise have been outside with only a small wooden box for shelter.
Pizza has been okay with other large dogs. She is terrified of all people so a home with older or no children is best.
She is not "catatonic" like some puppy mill dogs; she watches people closely, just doesn't want them to come too close unless she trusts them. Unlike many, she will not just "freeze" when approached, she does try to run and hide but shows absolutely no fear aggression.
Pizza needs someone who can work with her to earn her trust and build her confidence. She needs to be taught how to "be a dog" and to live in the world she had been isolated from.

Pizza is spayed, fully vaccianted (including bordetella and canine influenza), microchipped, dewormed, fecal checked negative, heartworm tested negative, kept on monthly heartworm prevention and given seasonal flea/tick prevention.
Pizza is available in the Kansas City and surrounding areas of NW Missouri and Eastern Kansas only. A securely fenced yard is required.
