My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi Everybody, I'm Tyler! Am I not the handsomest dog ever?
I'm a BIG and cuddly boy at ~120 lbs and I'm 5 years old. The good folks at Happy Dogs Rescue think I'm at least part Leonberger, I certainly have the traits- check them out on the Leonberger Club of America website! My brother Tucker has a really cute freckeled face instead of my classic black.
Like the other giant breeds I'm very gentle and loving but a bonus!- I don't drool! Well, maybe a little at mealtimes and when it's really hot, but don't we all?
I love to be right with my people (to the point I'll jump a fence to get to them) and I'm already cratetrained and housetrained. I sure enjoy the air conditioning when it gets hot, and I'd love to keep you warm this winter, snuggled up on the couch! Who needs a blanket when you have a Leo,preferrably two?
I do get excited to go for a walk and love a good romp in the yard. I do get bouncy- I don't try to jump on you but be ready to handle me.
I do NOT want to live on a farm of any sort. Tucker and I have tried that life but preferred to wander into town to visit the animal control officers. They were really nice! Our owners finally decided to just leave us there but fortunately we had made great friends at the shelter and they worked really hard to find us a safe place to go.
We much prefer to be housedogs and family pets. We love kids and other dogs but cats and other tiny pets aren't really safe. We're really social and you could take us anywhere really. Just be ready to answer the million questions about what we are and be ready to thank people for compliments on our beauty!

Tyler is neutered, fully vaccinated (including bordetella and canine influenza), microchipped, dewormed and fecal checked negative, heartworm tested negative, kept on monthly heartworm prevention and given seasonal flea/tick prevention.
His adoption fee is 100. Tyler needs a 6 ft fence or a plan for a safe alternative for outdoor time. Other adoption requirements are listed below.
