Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jenny is a sable purebred German Shepherd. This beautiful girl was rescued from a puppy mill July 2010. She readily greets people on her home turf but prefers people she knows when in public. Lots of activity in an unfamiliar place makes her nervous and she prefers to keep close to familiar people and dogs. She will warm up to new people, especially after a walk but it is on her own time when she trusts you (sometimes a few minutes, sometimes a few hours). She definitely prefers women to men. Small children seem to scare her so older children are preferred.
Jenny loves going for walks and is great on a leash! Long walks, hikes or jogging, she's always ready to go! She enjoys playing and wrestling with other large dogs and gets along with most. It is usually other females that don't like her that she will take issue with. She has a high prey drive and will chase cats, rabbits, squirrels, birds, and other small animals.
Jenny is very smart, quickly learning sit and easily learns other commands and routines. She is also very athletic and able to climb almost anything! She will also use other objects to help her jump and should always be supervised within a fence or kept on a leash when she is outside. A 6ft privacy fence is strongly preferred for her.
She is already cratetrained and housetrained but may take a few days to adjust to the "normal" sounds and activities of your household. She had been kept in a small outdoor run most of her life and is still learning about the world around her. Her crate is her "safe" place and she would probably prefer to stay in it while you are away (even if trusted loose) or have it available to retreat to if she becomes stressed.
Jenny has been spayed, fully vaccinated (including bordetella and canine influenza), microchipped, de-wormed, fecal checked negative, heartworm tested negative, kept on monthly heartworm prevention and given seasonal flea/tick prevention.
Her adoption fee is 250.
Jenny is availble in the Kansas City and surrounding areas of NW Missouri and Eastern Kansas. A 6 ft privacy fence is required or approved alternative for safe outdoor time. If you do not have a privacy fence, please outline your plan for safe outdoor time in your initial email. Other adoption requirements are listed below.
