This pair of girls were surrendered from separate homes.
Mayflower nearly died of neglect. In fact, she had a cagemate of unknown gender who died shortly before she was surrendered. This poor little girl was emaciated and hunchbacked when she arrived. Thanks to Animal Whispers, another rescue group, we were able to offer her care before her previous owners let her simply waste away. Mayflower weighed in at 535 grams and has gained more than 100 grams in the past two months. We're still hoping the weight gain is not due to pregnancy, but so far she's simply showing signs of returning to health.
Junebug was surrendered with a group of chins, many of whom where misidentified in gender. She had kits with her and we've put her on maternity watch in the event that a breedback had occurred. While Junebug didn't get along with her previous cagemate, Kiwi, she does love Mayflower.
