Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This handsome devil is Apollo! Apollo is a 15 month old brindle Great Dane with natural ears. He came in with his sister, Emma, and lived a quiet life, with few visitors and little social activity...so when he came into rescue, he reacted quite strongly to all the new changes. He has made wonderful progress with learning that new things almost always mean GOOD things, but he does still have a ways to go in his socialization. He now needs a loving, patient, and preferably dog savvy new home that's willing to continue working with him. He still is very skittish around men (a male in the home is still a new thing to him) and earning his trust does take time with certain ones. He also startles very, very easily and will blindly bolt to get away from whatever the scary noise was, but as his trust in his fosters grows, so does his confidence. He is not fond of cats outdoors, but has proven gentle and trustworthy with a 10 lb doggy buddy inside, so we think he may be okay with indoor cats (especially if they give him a hiss and swat - he's really quite a weenie). He is housebroken, and usually trustworthy when left out of a crate during an average workday (crating is always the best option though!).
Apollo's ideal home will have a doggy companion to help bolster his confidence and continue to serve as a "canine role model", kind, gentle children age 5 or over, and owners who understand this breed and can commit to working with him as he continues to grow. Apollo also will not hesitate to jump a 4 foot fence if he feels he needs to, so taller fences are required. He has met other dogs of all shapes, sizes, and temperaments and takes everything in stride!
