My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NAME: Lady Zabora

ALIAS: Little Zee

AGE: A lucky eight

FAVORITE MOVIE: Confession time. I always fall asleep during movies. Always! Something about those opening credits just makes me feel so snuggly and I just doze right off . . .

FAVORITE TOY: Honestly? I’m not really into toys. I would much rather just follow you around and lay down for a nap wherever you might go.

FAVORITE DANCE: The bunny hop! I am a very calm and collected lady, but when I get excited – right at the beginning of a walk or after a really nice poop – I like to bound like a little bunny. My foster mama says it’s extra cute because I’m a little clumsy, but I can really get some altitude!

OCCUPATION: I am a trust-fund baby, so I don’t need to work. Instead, I get to just lay around looking cute all the time! You see, I got to take an early retirement because of my foster mama’s very successful fundraiser that paid for my rescue and will pay for my vet care for a long time—probably forever! You can read about my fundraiser here: http://loveandaleash.wordpress.com/2011/09/06/lady-zs-fundraiser-wrap-up/

IDEAL FOREVER-FAMILY: My dream family loves to snuggle, will adore my goofy, bumbly walking style, and will appreciate my incredibly soft, thick fur and my ability to give perfect little kisses. My dream home would have lots of soft places to lay down for little naps, and not too many stairs for me to go up and down – or at least a person to help me go down the stairs slowly and safely. I adore both adults and children, but would rather be the only dog. I’m a little wobbly on my feet, so other dogs can startle me and knock me over pretty easily. And after the hard first half of my life, I would really rather get to be the queen Zee for the second half!

WHAT MAKES ME SO AWESOME: My foster mom and dad have only had me for about a week, but they say I’m already their favorite foster of all time. And they’ve had six foster pitties before me! They say it’s because I am so easy, happy, quiet, calm, mellow, and sweet as honey. They say it’s also nice that I don’t get up on the furniture, I am perfectly housebroken, I love to ride in the car, I like to sleep late in the mornings, I don’t need tons of activities, and I have no other bad habits like chewing, stealing food, or de-squeaking stuffed animals. And I’ve never met anybody who didn’t just fawn over how darling I am!

ABOUT MY HEALTH: I am so, so healthy! I got full bloodwork before my spay, and the vet said it was totally perfect. So no worries there! But, I do have a funny little neurological issue that makes me walk a little funny, kind of like I’m drunk (even though I do not drink). The vet says it’s probably the result of some kind of trauma when I was younger, but it doesn’t cause me any suffering and will not get any worse when I get older. I love to go for walks and play with my people, but I do need a little help walking down stairs—just somebody helping to make sure I don’t fall, or carrying me if the stairs are very steep or long. I am a petite little Zee though, so it’s no big deal! And as a bonus, my foster mama says my bumbling makes me even more endearing. I thought that was not even possible!

MY SPECIAL STORY: I was dumped at the shelter by my former person, who for some reason couldn’t take care of me anymore. I have had lots and lots of puppies in my life, but when I ended up at the shelter, I was all alone. My foster mama met me and instantly fell in love with me. Because I’m eight years old and so many other dogs at the shelter are an energetic and bouncy 1 or 2 years old, my foster mama knew I would probably never make it out of there. I guess she saw something really special in me, because she saved me. She started a fundraiser to help pay for my rescue and health care, and I guess other people saw something really special too, because more than 120 people donated more than $4,000 – all for little ol’ me. I am really honored, and my foster mama is happy to know that the financial concerns of adopting a middle-aged dog will never stand between me and my perfect family. Are you my perfect family?
