Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Birthdate: 7/16/11
Gender: Female
Breed: Dachshund/Chihuahua mix
Siblings: Pipsqueak, Minutiae
Tiny dogs are often big on personality, and these two tiny girls are certainly no exception. Once you meet them, you will never forget them because they’ll make a big, BIG impression on your heart.
Don’t miss their video!
Pipsqueak and Minutiae didn’t have the easiest start to their rescue story. They were found in one of the worst areas of downtown Youngstown, discarded in a milk crate, at only 6 weeks old. They were so tiny, weighing in at only two pounds, that they fit in the palms of our hands.
They had originally been destined for the dog pound, but luckily, they were diverted here to New Lease on Life for the special attention and extra snuggles they so desperately needed.
Since then, they have been thriving in foster care, where they are getting plenty of kisses and hugs every day. And their personalities have really come out. They love to play and explore, with Minutiae being more of the Explorer while Pipsqueak would much rather stay at home and curl up in a warm lap.
They have experienced all of the great things that life has to offer. They love kids, both tiny and big. They enjoy playing with other dogs and have no idea how tiny they are compared to everyone else. They like cats, who are a little bit more their size and so fun to play with. And of course, they like people. They enjoy hunting down the elusive walking shoe, trying to make its way across the prairie of the living room without being untied. They like to scramble into laps and stretch under the caress of gentle hands. Simply put, they want to be pampered and loved without exception.
Thanks to their fosters, they have a bit of a leg up on housebreaking, although they’re a little bit young to master the concept just yet. They understand that they’re supposed to go outside (and they will potty when they go out), but tiny bladders are, well, tiny, so it’s going to take a bit more practice to perfect it. Potential adopters should plan on a few accidents along the way. It’s one of the joys of raising puppies.
The girls are believed to be Dachshund/Chihuahua mixes. They just hit 8 weeks old a couple of days ago and weighed in at a mere 5 pounds, so we’re expecting their adult weights to be no more than 20 to 30 pounds, max. Potential adopters should plan on a small dog.
Pipsqueak and Minutiae are both in foster care, but they would love to meet you. If you are interested in adopting one of these darling girls, please call 330–397–8270 to schedule an appt to meet them. They are not yet spayed, so the first meeting would be to get to know them and fill out an adoption application. If approved, you must leave a 50% deposit ($100) to reserve your favorite puppy. She can then go home with your family the day after her spay. We are expecting to have these girls spayed by the end of the week.
