Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Well, Baxter is one very unique dog. Here's his story: On 1/28/07 Baxter had his neuter surgery. It was known that only one testicle had descended. So, routinely the doctors look for the other one within the abdomen to remove it. It was then that the veterinarian discovered that Baxter was actually INTERSEXED. He had urterine horns going to each testicle. This is a form of hermaphrodite. Yep, strange , rare but true.

The problem is that poor Baxter is incontinent. He needs additional surgery to correct his improper plumbing. The doctor suspects that Baxter problem - an ectopic ureter. This simply means that one of tiny tubes that take urine from the kidneys to the bladder, is instead connected to the urethra (the tube that he pees from),- hence constant drippage of urine.
But simple surgery its not and requires a skilled urologist. Therefore, we are placing Baxter 's name for a Brittany Buddy. Could you please find it in your heart to help this sweet little guy. Perhaps you know yourself how being incontinent affects your life. Please help give Baxter the chance for a normal healthy life so he can find a family to love him. All he needs is you.
Baxter is a very sweet, wonderful dog with an unfortunate problem. He is incontinent. American Brittany Rescue has gone above and beyond for this guy. Baxter had a complete diagnostic workup at MSU (quite costly) only to find that he can not be helped surgically. He has a few minor anatomical alterations, none in themselves problematic, but for him the accumulation means he piddles. There is a medication that can help decrease the amount he piddles, but this still leaves him with the need to wear a belly wrap while in the house.
Baxter has that great brittany personality, beautiful face and a puppy like spirit. He gets along well with other dogs and cats. Although we don't have children, I would strongly susupect that he would do well with children that aren't aggressive. Baxter is quite aware of the wild life in the backyard and with the nicer weather is happy to spend lots of time outside chasing the squirrels and looking for deer in the woods. He just loves to watch the squirrels from the window and has figured out their pattern for getting onto the deck. He may have been used for hunting - hard to know. He will lookup into the trees and chase them has they go from branch to branch, tree to tree.
Baxter's perfect home would be with someone who understands his incontinece and willing to use belly wraps while in the house. He doesn't mind it once it's on, and has his routine down pretty well. He is still puppy like in his play. Give him a ball and he is at his happiest. He is learning to keep his feet off the counters and not to jump up with his exuberance when he is so happy to see you. He knows how to sit and comes well when called. Baxter is crate trained during the day and sleeps in his own bed on the floor in our room at night. Baxter is trained to the invisible fence. He will require either that or formal fencing.
If you can find it in your heart to adopt Baxter, you will have a loyal loving companion who will be forever grateful. Please fill out an on-line application for this special guy.
History:
Baxter and a female were picked up in Shiwasee County. He was neutered prior to coming into rescue. When Baxter arrived at our home, it was obvious that he was severely mistreated. He was extremely shy, hand shy, coward easily, rolled submissively (but not urinating) and was very frightened. Baxter had no idea how to use stairs and ran into windows. Whatever Baxter went through previously he has made huge strides in learning to trust again. He is very sweet, gives kisses now and likes to have his belly rubbed and could sit by you endlessly for attention.
History:
Baxter was found as a stray in Isabella County.
