Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Darby
Darby is a 5 1/2 year old, cropped/docked, black and rust female Doberman. She came to DRRI from a shelter in WV where she ended up because her elderly owner passed away.
She is current on vaccines, spayed and house trained (probably no need for a crate).
Darby is EXTREMELY overweight. We are having her evaluated by our vet to rule out any medical issues. She is also on a strict diet. Darby is so heavy that she spends most days sleeping away on the couch.
We are looking forward to seeing a much more active Darby once she begins to shed some of those extra pounds.
Darby is getting along well with all of the dogs and humans she is living with.
More to come as we get to know her.
Update: Darby visited with our veterinarian and we did discover she has hypothyroidism. That simply means she will need to take a pill each day for the rest of her life. The pills are inexpensive and hypothyroidism is fairly common in the Doberman breed.
We now believe that Darby's weight gain was caused by her thyroid condition and she was probably fed a lot of table food.
Darby is settling in nicely. She is a very well mannered girl who LOVES to give kisses!
