My name is Lily and I need you. I am the sweetest, most gentlest, dog you'll ever meet!! I came to Willamette Humane Society in Salem, Oregon as a stray and when the nice folks at the shelter, called my owner to come pick me up, my mom refused to come get me and left me at the shelter.
I'm about 2 yrs old, 52 pounds, I LOVE dogs of all sizes, and even indoor cats! I ride great in the car and I walk nice on my harness. I also have wonderful house manners! I'm crate trained and very quite in my crate. I used to be in a foster home in Salem, OR - where I lived with 2 Chihuahuas, 2 Pit Bulls and 1 Golden Retriever but now I'm back at the shelter in Salem and I'm waiting for the perfect person who will keep me safe and love me, as much as I will love them!
My new family should be ready to help me with some confidence building. I do not like loud noises but I am great with kids of all ages and very polite with cats indoors (outside I like to chase them). My new family needs to have a securely fenced yard and a lot of time to help me adjust. We will work on these things together and that will help us build trust and have a happy and loving relationship for life. Please give me a chance to show you my beautiful eyes and very big heart.
Here is a note from Martha Russell, one of Lilly's sponsors, while she was at Willamette Humane Society.... "I first met Lily when she arrived at the Willamette Humane Society. She was frightened and overwhelmed with all of the noise and activity of the shelter. She was curled up tightly on her bed in her kennel, tail tucked, head down, trembling. Another volunteer and I took her outside and she almost instantly started to relax. Slowly her tail came untucked and she crawled into my lap and gave me a lick. From that point on she became one of my favorites. Each time I came to walk her, she eagerly came to the front of her kennel, her whole body wiggling with excitement. She took treats gently, walked well on her leash and every time we sat down in the yard after a walk she rolled over on her back for a tummy scratch. Lily loves nothing more than being with people. She did great in play group once she felt at home and enjoyed being with the other dogs. Many volunteers and staff at WHS fell in love with Lily, including me. She is a sweetheart I will never forget."
Lilly says, "I did not ask to be born, I am a good dog, I may not be perfect but I do deserve a wonderful life, to have a loving home and if you "save" mine, I will "complete" yours!"
