Shira’s waiting for a very special person to adopt her. She’s been holding out for a year now in foster care just waiting for her perfect person to come along and adopt her. Shira is 3 year old Siberian Husky/Border Collie mix who was found abandoned and taken to the NYC Animal Care and Control after her owner died. She is a happy, friendly, energetic, sweet girl who loves belly rubs, attention and talking. Yes, that’s right. She’s very vocal like many Huskies and talks to you with woos. Shira is a super smart girl who LOVES to please. Shira is extremely obedient and excels with training. She’s a natural at agility and would win competitions if given the chance. Watch her video to see her in action http://youtu.be/k-5SGa8ZccY ! Shira has a big personality and is a bit bossy, so she’d do best as an only dog in an adult home. However, she could live with another larger, submissive dog if the owner is experienced enough to keep her in check. Shira would not do well with cats due to her high prey drive. Shira needs a lot of exercise and mental stimulation to fulfill the needs of both her breeds. Shira weighs approximately 40 pounds, is housebroken and crate trained. Shira’s adoption fee is $250 and adopters will receive one training session with our behavioral trainer upon finalizing the adoption. Applicants must come to meet Shira in person.
