Sophie is non-shedding and may be more ideal for allergy sufferers. Keep in mind non-shedding means more grooming! She should visit a groomer every 6-8 weeks to keep her coat or moderate length and free of painful mats. We are working on having Sophie groomed this coming week after she has had time to recover from her spay. She will be off to her new home with a fresh hair cut and smelling fresh.
Sophie is a real sweet heart. She has not been properly socialized with many people, she is really only used to being around the people that live in her home. She likes people she just isn’t sure about meeting so many, she likes the attention and just needs to get used to having people dote on her all the time – even when she doesn’t have pups at her side. The first thing we noticed about this little girl is that no matter how unsure she is she isn’t shy about finding a lap to hop in to! Though nervous, she is fine with respectful children. She doesn’t mind cats and doesn’t mind other calm dogs – she isn’t such a huge fan of rough housing, she more enjoys the companionship of other dogs not the play part. Sophie is better suited to a less busy home with no small kids around full time until she is better socialized but she wouldn’t mind having a respectful child taking good care of her. She is crate trained and house trained, she has not had any accidents in her foster home, she sleeps in her crate at night and when left alone. She is likely fine given free roam of her new home once her housebreaking routine has been established with her new family. She is perfectly fine being left alone for typical 9-5 work hours, she just curls up on her doggy bed in her crate. Sophie loves to cuddle with her family and just needs to be loved so she can learn to trust. She would be great as an only dog or a second dog. Her family will need to take things slow and help her get used to being a family pet as well as getting used to the sights and sounds of the city and a regular household. Sophie is learning to walk on a leash but still needs practice, she isn’t afraid of traffic noises for the most part but she still isn’t fully accustom to walking down busy city streets. Sophie would love to find a home that can spend time with her, love her, cuddle and carry her around – she loves to hang out on a lap or be picked up. She can go to an apartment or house with a fenced yard.
