My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE: Joy is still available for adoption! I can't believe it but the right family for Joy has not come along yet. Is the idea of giving a cat some medicine scary? Because it is truly an easy thing to do and Joy is worth it!

Amazing kitty! Are you searching for a cat to add to your family who will run out to meet you when you get home? A cat who tries to make you laugh out loud? A cat who thinks she is a real family member and will sit on your lap to watch TV or a movie with you? Joy is the sweetest cat you'll ever meet! She was found on Rte. 485 by a caring woman who couldn't ignore the cute baby on the road. Joy was then turned over as a stray to Charlotte Animal Control and we decided to take her home to foster her and give her some of the special attention she deserves. After only 1 day of fostering her, we knew her name had to be Joy, because she is just so happy to be alive. Joy is extremely affectionate and loves to be kissed, held and cuddled. She is not shy or afraid of anything, and loves other cats and dogs. She loves playing with my dogs, it is hysterical! She rides in the car well, sitting on the seat next to my dog (I swear she has no idea she is a cat). Joy has the best personality I have seen in all my years of rescue.

Joy is gorgeous - solid black with reddish tones to her fur. She looks like a tiny black panther. She is about 7 months old (as of Feb. 6, 2007) and is petite, she only weighs about 7 pounds. She tested negative for both feline leukemia and feline AIDS, is fully vaccinated and is already spayed. Joy does have a small ulcer in her left eye, which was caused by some type of virus probably passed to her at birth from her mother. It is not a big deal, it does not cause her any pain but anyone who is lucky enough to adopt her should know that she will probably always need eye drops to prevent blindness in that eye. She is very good about it and it is definitely worth the 2 minutes a day it takes, because she is a once in a lifetime kitty! She will sit on your lap, purr, keep you warm and will make you laugh!

For more information, please contact Joy's foster mommy Beth at bethie3300@carolina.rr.com. Joy is currently located in Charlotte, NC but for the right furrever INDOOR ONLY home, she could be transported almost anywhere! Adoption application and a vet reference does apply.
