Dusty needs a foster home or an adopter, ASAP!! She was found as a stray wandering an old country road in Aurora, Oregon back in May 2011. She had no microchip and her owners never came to reclaim her. A nice Veterinarian named Dr. Cheryl Lopate found Dusty wandering in the road and brought her to the clinic(Wilsonville Veterinary Clinic) that she works at in Wilsonville, Oregon. Dusty has been in boarding at the vet clinic in a small 3x6 run since May 29th and she needs a home ASAP!! Dusty is only getting three 10 minute breaks a day!!! That's 24/7 in a small cage for a young, active puppy! This is NO life for a dog.
Dusty is now deteriorating from kennel stress, loneliness and long term confinement since May 29th.......CAN YOU HELP DUSTY? This dog is so fun and sweet. Will you please open your heart and home to fostering or adopting Dusty?! Dusty will be forever grateful.
This is what Dr. Lopate has to say about Dusty....... Dusty's temperament is wonderful! She is 12 months old, 40 lbs, maybe a Pit Bull-Shepherd mix. She is very unique looking. She is VERY happy, tail goes all the time (in fact it goes so hard most of the time that she has abraded the end of her tail on the side and front gate of the run - so she has a tail bandage on right now - update it's healed now!) Dusty is very outgoing most of the time, but if she thinks she's done wrong she is very submissive. She really loves people (men, women and children). She doesn't have much training on her yet but she does know sit. She is good with other dogs. Dusty is in need of a home with patience, love and training. She will thrive in a home with someone willing to invest time into her. No one has ever invested into her life and she so deserves a chance and a new beginning! Will you be that someone to save Dusty's life? Dusty says, "I did not ask to be born, I am a good dog, I may not be perfect but I do deserve a wonderful life, to have a loving home and if you "save" mine, I will "complete" yours!"
**9/7/11 UPDATE**Dusty had a mini vacation with a friend of mine and this is what Kristine reports on Dusty's "cage break" for 3 days at her home. "Dusty is a wonderful little pit bull mix, and when I say little, I am not joking! This girl is very unique looking. It is hard to tell from her pictures but she is only about 35 lbs. and very short. She almost looks like a puppy even though she is about one year old. I had the pleasure of having Dusty stay at my house for a long weekend and I absolutely fell in love with her. This young lady has been stuck in boarding for 3 long months. She was found wandering the road by a veterinarian in Wilsonville. They have been boarding her at the vet clinic and looking for a place for her since then. She desperately needs a foster or adoptive home ASAP. She is a high energy little thing who is getting very minimal exercise while in boarding. When I picked her up, she was really excited to be leaving the clinic, but after some play time with my dogs, she mellowed out significantly. She just needs someone to give her a chance. Dusty gets along well with other dogs. She played great with both my energetic large male pit mix and my calmer 25 lb. sheltie. I think she would be very happy living with another playful dog. When I introduced Dusty to my cats, she was a little too focused and excited for me to feel comfortable letting her off leash with them, so I would say a home without cats would be best for her. As much as Dusty loves to play, she is also content to chew on a sturdy toy and entertain herself. She is an incredibly eager to please dog. She just wants to make everyone happy. That combined with her food motivation will make her very easy to train. I spent a small amount of time working on the “down” command with her and she was picking it up quickly. She will be a very devoted companion for some lucky person. She loves being in the company of humans and bonded to me very quickly. She is potty trained and kennel trained. She slept quietly in her kennel in my bedroom each night she stayed with me. She responds to “come” VERY well, she sits, has begun to work on “down” and will be very easy to train on other commands. Please network this LOVELY little girl everywhere you possibly can so that we can find the perfect foster or adoptive home for her."
