Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bernard is handsome 3 year old who weighs 76 pounds. He is in great health and has a beautiful chocolate brown coat. Bernard is a sweet boy who has done well at the shelter, but wants his own home! He rides well in the car and knows his manners, although he sometimes gets overexcited and has to be reminded. Approved for kids 5+.
Latest update from foster: Bernard is one of the nicest dogs I have ever met. Even my husband totally loves him (and he is a tough nut to crack). He has the sweetest disposition that is soooo easy to fall in love with. Yesterday he spent most of his day helping me clean the house - no fear of the vac at all. In fact, I had a hard time getting him to move to vac the floor underneath him. The highlight of his day was picking my son up from tae kwon do. He worked the parents and kids like a professional - tail wagging the entire time, giving polite kisses and soaking in the attention. He is super friendly to everyone he meets. He got so many compliments about how sweet and handsome he is. He also loves riding in the car. He sits so quietly I almost forget he is there. Bernie has wonderful house manners - no counter surfing, waits patiently at the door while I get the leash on him, does not get on the furniture (Although I was finally able to coax him on the sofa for some cuddle time.), and he loves to let loose and play in the yard, but then is totally mellow in the house. His training is well underway and he just wants to please. He does tend to be overly enthusiastic about treats, but if you present the treat with the back of your hand first, he takes it gently. Bernie loves to play chase and tug with the other dogs, but he really gets into a good game of fetch. He even drops the ball nicely when he brings it back. Even the cats love Bernie - no chasing or harassing at all. Bernard has been an absolutely wonderful weekend house guest. He is more than welcome any time, although this boy really deserves a family of his own. Whoever Bernie chooses as his forever family will be one lucky family!
Update from foster: Bernard just started attending an obedience course with his fosters. They report: he went to his first class last week and did great in the new environment even with all the distractions.
Update from foster: Bernard is playful dog who absolutely loves to play with his tennis ball or his nerf football ~ as long as he has a toy, he is content. He is a lover of the crate and lays in it often throughout the day on his own. And when he has to go into it, he does it without a peep. He enjoys pulling toys from the toy box and giving them a good chew, but a favorite seems to be demolishing tennis balls. He is energetic and likes to explore his surroundings. Bernard would be a great addition to an active family who likes to have fun. He knows sit and with extra encouragement knows down. His house manners are great. His tail is in constant wag mode and he is always happy to see you, even if you've only been out of the room for a short minute. This dog is available for adoption from Lab Rescue LRCP.
