A Southern Charmer!

Dixie has done good and got "Yankee Rich" (translation - landed on the East Coast) after being saved from a Southern Virginia dog pound. She was originally found in VA with no collar or ID. She is everything a "belle" should be - friendly, flirtatious, cool as lemonade and warm as sunshine. She has a nice coat although turning a bit grey, so we guess her age to be approximately 6 years old. Dixie received high marks from the shelter helpers who cared for her. She is affectionate, has a clue about housetraining, and we believe she would make an excellent addition to a great family. Dixie is up to date on her vaccinations, spayed and microchipped! We'll know more about this pretty lil' hound after she spends time with her foster mom and dad, but if you are interested in giving this girl a second chance at a life of luxury, please don't hesitate to whistle (Dixie, that is...)

UPDATE:: Dixie has started her heartworm treatment after being on antibiotics for 3 weeks. She is a sweet little girl who likes to nap on the laps of her foster parents! She has been guarding her food a bit around other dogs, yet has only growled and never done anything more. That being said, we are looking for an adults only (or with kids who are over 14) home for her.
