Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Chief is a great dog. Initially when he came to us he was apprehensive and non trusting of people, but what we found was that he was frightened and insecure. Now, he is such a sweet, friendly boy who loves playing with other dogs and just wants to be with someone. He is a real love who takes his time to get to know you, but once he does he becomes your best friend. He's a little more comfortable with women than men, but does fine once he knows you are okay. He's a great watch dog and will bark when someone that he doesn't know approaches, but otherwise you get greeted with a big ol Chief smile and lots of tail wagging. He loves cookies and treats and mouths them gently from your fingers. Chief is learning to play with toys and tennis balls and carries them proudly and joyously in his mouth as if he's never had them before, and maybe he hasn't ! He loves walking on leash and is very good at walking and not pulling. Chief listens well and would be a fun dog to train and to work with. He'd probably not be a good candidate for a home with small children or alot of people in and out as he does tend to be guarded and nervous but with the right person or persons, he'd be absolutely the best boy to have around! Chief is only about 40 pounds and most of that is fluff although he might look larger in these photos. He's a wonderful boy, looking for that safe and loving haven and a second chance in life. If you are interested in meeting him and you can be that special home that he needs, please submit an adoption application online at www.barkva.org orcontact us at adopt@barkva.org or 804-449-BARK (2275)today.
