My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 10/02/2011: Sushi is an adorable 4 year old Yorkshire Terrier who is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Sushi currently weighs about 19 lbs, but should still lose a couple of pounds to be a a healthier weight. Sushi is definitely an alpha dog - she would prefer being the only doggie in the home - she appears to have jealousy issues with the other dogs, over toys, even over her Foster Mom. But she is very loyal to Foster Mom and will make a wonderful companion. Sushi would also get along great in a home with children where she would most likely be like the Nanny Dog for the family. She is a very loving dog - could your home be perfect for Sushi?

UPDATED BIO 07/31/2011: Sushi is an adorable 4 year old Yorkshire Terrier who was surrendered by her owners to a kill shelter; she is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. She came into rescue weighing a whopping 21.5 lbs, which means she is currently overweight. A much healthier weight for her is 15-17#, and she is currently on a special dog food to help her get rid of those unhealthy pounds. Sushi was so very frightened when she came into UYR that she will cower or roll-over and show her belly in a submissive pose whenever approached; Foster Mom feels that she may have suffered some abuse in her past. Her Foster Mom & Dad are working to gain her trust, and she is responding beautifully. She gave FM a kiss today for the first time and has been following her around for the first time today. Sushi gets along with the other dogs in the home; she is a very sweet little girl who deserves a home where she will never ever have to suffer abuse again. She has just started showing an interest in toys. It appears Sushi has not ever been housetrained, but her FM and FD are working with her on this. Sushi came in with bilateral eye infections and also Dry Eye Syndrome (Keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS) – the inflammation is clearing up, but she will most likely need to have drops put into her eyes for the rest of her life. You can read more about this condition in dogs here...... http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/eyes/c_dg_keratoconjunctivitis_sicca.

INITIAL BIO 07/26/2011: MEET SUSHI! She is an adorable 4 year old yorkshire terrier who was surrendered by her owner to a high-kill shelter, simply because she was overweight (21.5 lbs!) and had bilateral eye infections. Poor lil girl - not her fault! Sushi definitely needs to lose weight to a much healthier weight of around 15 - 17 lbs. She has just come into rescue so check the LFL page often for updates on Sushi as Foster Mom gets to know her.
