Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
He is a herding mix--red heeler and german shepherd, maybe a few others -- neutered, trained, very smart, very affectionate, full of classic heeler energy and extremely loyal. He is also a dog with a somewhat mysterious history; he came into the shelter with a hip injury, several scars on the insides of his legs, a missing toenail and a nasty strain of kennel cough. He had surgery to repair his dislocated hip and he is now beautifully healthy.
However, he is a nervous dog in situations where he feels unsafe or insecure. In situations where he is fearful he has been known to bite. He has bitten 3 times and needs to be watched closely in situations with new people. It is purely a fear reaction and not aggression. A professional dog trainer has worked with him to try to solve this problem but he needs on going training. Please take this in to consideration if you want to apply for him and realize he needs work in this area.
As soon as he knows someone or they have established their authority, he becomes loving and affectionate. He loves his people and loves to be with them. He also LOVES other dogs, but he does have a ton of energy and occasionally plays rough. His rough play can cause other dogs to become aggressive if they are not in a playful mood. He has stayed at Dog camps in the past and been well loved and had perfect report cards.
Commands that he knows: Sit, Stay, Leave it (for dangerous things he's wanting, or if giving a treat, I would say, "leave it", wait for eye contact and then say "okay"), Wait, Okay, Chair, Off, Couch, Upstairs, Downstairs, Sleep (aka play dead), Roll Over, Close (as in, "heel"), B-tizzle (his squishy ball toy), Up, Fetch, Down, Lie down, Get it or go get____ (often a person whose name he knows), High Five, Shake
