My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 09/24/2011: Hello again. I am Isabella. I am an 8 pound 4-5 year old yorkie girl who was surrendered because my people could not take care of me. They never trained me to do anything but be afraid. My foster mom is trying to teach me how to go on a wee wee pad every time I need to go, or to go outside. She says it is a process because nobody ever tried before, but she also says it is worth it because I am so cute and lovable. I love to surprise her with wet kisses and curl up in her lap.. I love my green soft toy and look at her with my best wishful stare until she throws the toy for me to catch. She doesn't care if I miss the wee wee pad once in awhile because I am so cute and cuddly just like a little teddy bear. I can tell she loves me to death because she loves to pick me up and kiss me and hug me all the time. Everyone who comes here says I am so cute. I do still bark at strange people but FM has 4 dogs and no yard so it is a little harder to give me the training time I need. She says I could be an only dog or have a playmate and I wouldn't care. FM takes us all out at once for a walk and 4 dogs is sometimes distracting to me. I would love a yard but love to walk on a leash. If someone could only pay attention to me I think I would learn more quickly about my potty training.

I have mange and have 4 more treatments and then I will be scraped to see if it is gone. If it is I will be ready to be adopted into a forever home. I can't wait even though I love my FM so much. I always follow her wherever she goes. I only eat dog food because the chicken that FM put in my food gave me an upset stomach. So now I just have kibble with some wet food two times a day. I am not afraid of bad weather and when people come into the house I am more curious to meet them. I bark at them first but once I know you I stop. I like children because my FM's grandchildren come here to play with me. I don't bite or snap or nip and I really really would love to have a home of my own. A lady friend of FM's came to visit and wanted to take me home because I was so cute but FM knew there were little children in the house so she said no. So if you can forget about my little problems and see how cute and loving I am maybe you will want to meet me and take me to your house when my mange is fixed. Please help me find a forever home.

UPDATED BIO 09/03/2011: Bella is a 4-5 year old (corrected age by vet, but FM feels like she acts like a puppy!) 8 pound Yorkie girl who is being treated for mange. She will be ready to go to a forever home in about 8 weeks when her treatments are finished. She had this to say:

I was surrendered by my family because they could not take good care of me. I am a happy girl and just love my new foster sister. I am wee wee pad trained and go outside too! I play with the other dogs in the house as if I were 5 months old and not 5 years old. When I came here to live my biggest problem was how afraid I was of everyone. When I am afraid I can't stop barking. I am getting much better and don't bark as much when I see new people and
my Foster mom says she sees lots of improvement. Every day I go out and meet people and I know that soon I won't need to bark anymore. I love to give my FM kisses all the time and I am fine with kids that are old enough to know how to treat a little dog. I don't bark when FM leaves the house and I am not afraid of thunder. I love to eat my kibble with a little chicken on it and I sleep all night like a good girl. Never let me off leash or I will run like the wind after everything that moves. I really want to catch all the squirrels here but that's what terriers like me do. I am waiting for my mange to get better to find someone who will love me forever. Maybe you?

UPDATED BIO 07/20/2011: Hi, I am Isabella. I am a 6.2 pound yorkie girl, and I'm being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. I think I am between 2 and 3 years old, but I am not sure. I was surrendered to a high kill shelter by someone who could not keep me. I have mange (the non-contagious kind!) and my foster mom is treating me for it.

My foster mom says my name should be Blossom because that it what I do just a little bit more every day. I have been here for one week on July 20th. The first day I came here, I hid under the bed and wouldn't let anybody come near me. I didn't know where to go potty so I just went wherever I was. I acted like I never saw a toy before and I never went outside on a leash. My FM took me out the second day I was here and I lay shaking on the sidewalk. So, the second and third day I was here, my FM took me out in a carry bag that she wore around her neck. On the 4th day she tried again, and I walked with the other dogs. I just had to see how they did it! By day 3 I had no more accidents as FM showed me the paper wee wee pads where I should go. She sprayed them with something that makes me want to go on them. I do not have any more accidents on the floor! See, more blossoming!

Yesterday I ran after a toy that FM threw when she was playing with the other pups in this house. Today I chewed on a bully stick for the first time. I just loved it. So my mange is being taken care of now and should be better by 9 or 10 weeks from now. I eat dry kibble if I am hungry during the day and I have some brown rice with chicken in it at night. I love it. FM and the pups are ok, but I am looking for a home that can love me forever. I am still very skittish about new people and when I walk on my leash and see a person I bark very high like a wolf howling. FM picks me right up and brings me over to the new person and once I know that they are not going to hurt me I stop barking and just keep on licking FM's face for assurance. She tells me that that will get better too and I won't be so afraid. I hope she is right because it's no fun being afraid. I love to sleep in bed with FM and the other pups, and I sleep all night long until she gets up. She puts me right off the bed and I beat her to the bathroom every morning.....right to my wee wee pad. So, aren't you all so proud of me!!!!!

INITIAL BIO 07/14/2011: Isabella is a beautiful 2 year old 6 lb little girl who is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Isabella has had a busy week. Her owners surrendered her to a high kill shelter. She is a sweet little girl who has eye infections and demodectic (non-contagious) mange. Foster mom has already started her skin treatment, and we're hoping to have her cleared up by the end of August, early September. Isabella was spayed today and had a dental where she lost only 2 teeth! Yay!

Please stay tuned as we get to know sweet Isabella better. For now, she's relaxing on the couch in a comfy bed and has no idea just how wonderful her life is about to get now that she's a UYR pup!
