My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 09/18/2011: Riki is a little older fella at approximately 10 years old - he is a skinny little guy at just under 7 lbs, though he should probably be closer to 9 lbs to be a healthier weight. He is being fostered in Boynton Beach, FL. Riki has a good appetite and eats well, so he should gain weight quickly. Riki may be a morkie (maltese/yorkie mix) or just a poorly-bred yorkie, but he is just adorable. Foster Mom reports that he does have a bark like a morkie and says he is such a smart boy - he can even tell time!? When it's meal time, you can depend on Riki to let her know! She says not only is he sooooo sweet, but he's perfectly housetrained - the best trained doggie in the household. He also loves to snack on fruits and veggies for treats. He expecially loves car rides and ............. baths! Please don't overlook this awesome little guy because of his age - he still has a lot of life in him and a lot of love to give - will you give him the chance?

INITIAL BIO 07/08/2011: Riki is more than meets the eye. He is an older fella (the shelter estimated him at 10 years) and had to be shaved down due to the severe matting, ticks, fleas, and overall neglect. Underneath the mats we found sores, scabs, and a skinny little guy at just under 7 lbs (though he should probably be closer to 9 lb). He is being fostered in Boynton Beach.

Every so often, we at UYR rescue a dog who is just plain happy despite how he was treated in the past. This gentleman obviously forgives the humans who neglected to care for his gorgeous silver fur. He was so grateful and happy to be riding in the car on his way to his foster home that we had to capture it on film (at a red light of course!). Riki loves everyone.... people.... dogs..... (we haven't seen him meet a cat yet, but we'll see). He is 100% housetrained too. Though his name was given to him by the shelter, the vet staff who fell in love with him in the past week while he was getting his teeth cleaned called him RIki. He appears to know it already. SMARTY PANTS!

Anyway, this guy is an oldie but a goodie. He has a mature cataract in one eye and a small one in the other, but don't let that fool you. He can get around and see just fine. :) We are taking applications for this little gentle soul who is looking for his new FURever family. Could it be you?
