Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cali is a beautiful spayed 5 year old black and tan shiba female.
She is vibrant, loving and very independent minded. She loves lying on her back and kicking her feet in the air until you tell her she is adorable. Cali LOVES car rides and will stick her head out of the window for the whole trip if you let her. She loves squeaky toys, sleeping on your lap, and staring at the birds while she is relaxing outside.
Cali has a pretty mellow personality most of the time. She is very sweet and loves when everyoneÂs attention is on her. Cali loves when guests come to the house. She thinks they have come to play with her, and will become anyoneÂs best friend in about a minute. She is a quite charming and a little bit of a diva!
Cali can get a little too excited when she plays with her squeaky toys. She will bark loudly at her toy and pounce on it. It is really funny, but if someone did not know she was playing, they might be frightened by her bark. This is why we are recommending her to be placed in a home without small children.
Cali gets along with cats just fine. I have 2 cats and she just ignores them most of the time.
She gets along with and/or ignores other dogs. Cali came to us from a home where she was the only dog. She does not mind the other dogs in the house, she never snaps at my dog when he steels her toy out from under her nose. She is very curious about how the other dogs interact with each other and with us. She is learning what it is like living with a dog brother and sister. I believe with the right dog and some extra social training, she would do fine living with a doggie companion for the rest of her life. Overall, Cali is a very sweet girl, and she will make the right family very happy!
The adoption fee for Cali is $250. Please refer to the MSIR website (www.shibarescue.org) for more information on the application and adoption process.
NOTE: DUE TO THE BREED'S INDEPENDENT NATURE, SHIBAS SHOULD ALWAYS BE LEASHED WHENEVER THEY ARE OUTSIDE OF A SECURELY FENCED AREA. IN ADDITION, MANY SHIBAS ARE DOOR BOLTERS AND CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN AROUND DOORS AND OTHER ESCAPE POINTS.
