Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lucy is approximately one year old, and is a very sweet, timid, playful girl. Considering her history, it is truly a wonder that she likes humans anymore, but she does. Lucy had been wandering the streets looking for food, and being chased out of yards by humans who just did not understand. Lucy did have an owner, but they were not feeding her. It took us a month to track down her "owner", once we found them they lost no time signing over legal rights to Lucy once the legal terminology of "animal neglect" was explained to them as what Lucy was currently living through. But on to greener pastures...Lucy is now crate trained, and house trained. The Vet gave her a clean bill of health, no heartworms. She is on monthly flea & tick preventative, heartworm preventative, is up to date on vaccinations, and will be scheduled for her spay in July. We wanted to wait for the spay until we put more weight on her. When we first becan caring for Lucy you could count her ribs 20 yards away from her. Lucy is probably all German Shepherd and not mixed, however, because she is not what GSD lovers would call a high class specimen of the breed we have listed her as mixed, just in case we are wrong. Lucy is very smart, and I never had to teach her to Heel when walking through town, she just mozeys on along with me, right by my side and never pulls unless she sees a squirrell or cat running away from her. If you have an indoor cat who will stand up to her, that would be OK, but outside cats would not fare so well. Lucy likes to play with the tennis ball, and she rides in the car Ok. She does not like getting into the car, but once she is inside she is fine. Lucy's only bad habit is that she will not go potty on the leash. You have to take her to the fenced yard and let her off the leash. Which is probably because she has been yelled at by strangers to get out of their yard when she was straying.
We do prefer that all our dogs have a securely fenced yard to play in.
