* ADOPTED *
Boomer is a good-looking, young Beagle
mix boy. He looks like a Beagle only larger so we think he may have some "hound" mixed in. Boomer is around 2 years old and weighs ~40 pounds. Boomer is sweet and playful and at times a little bit goofy, all of which make him even more loveable. He's a "talker" which may come from his Coonhound genes, and will attempt to tell you what he's thinking: AARRRoooooo! You just couldn't help but fall for this guy!
Boomer became homeless when his owner went into the service and left him behind. After living in several temporary homes, he eventually ended up at a rural shelter desperately hoping to find a forever home. But the shelter was getting very crowded and he really needed to get out!
Boomer is current on routine vaccinations, already neutered, heartworm negative, and has been micro-chipped. He is crate trained and housetrained. He loves to play with other dogs but can easily become over-excited and needs to be supervised--not a good candidate for the dog park. Boomer has shown a strong desire to chase cats and will need a home without felines or other small pets (rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, etc.) due to his strong hunting instincts. He would do best with an adult family or one without young children as their quick movements also tend to get him excited. He's a a young hound and as such would certainly benefit from some basic obedience classes and practice walking on a leash in addition to plenty of daily exercise. Boomer is very responsive to positive reinforcement but does not like to being forced into submission. He is anxious to finally settle down. He dreams of finding a
forever home with caring humans that won't go away and leave him behind.
Important: Boomer is not at a shelter where you can go to meet her. All Safe Hounds Beagles are cared for in a loving foster home. Prospective adopters MUST submit an adoption application and be pre-approved before meeting a dog. Submitting an application does not guarantee you will be approved. We are unable to accept applications for specific dogs and cannot guarantee the future availability of this or any dog listed. Once an application is approved, we’ll begin a matching process--the right dog for the right home. Please visit our web page:

If you are unable to adopt at this time, please consider helping us so that we can continue to help them. We have dogs with medical needs and many hungry Beagles to feed. We are always in need of dog food and other items from our
wish list as well as financial support to help us care for our dogs.
