My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, I’m Dale. My foster parents call me Dell or Delaware or Delbert or anything cute. You might notice that I don’t look like the English Springer Spaniels that appear on this page. Well, I’m a Springer at heart, but not by birth. Okay, since you asked, I’ll tell you. I had something called a DNA test done. When it came back, the nice Springer people found out that I am twenty-five percent German shorthaired pointer, twenty-five percent giant schnauzer, twenty-five percent mix, and twenty-five percent American Staffordshire terrier. Apparently this last part gets me in trouble with the law. If you’d like to know more about the American Staffordshire terrier part of me, type this URL into your browser: http://www.akc.org/breeds/american_staffordshire_terrier

There are places that have breed-specific legislation banning dogs who are any part American pit bull terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, or Staffordshire bull terrier, which are all considered “pit bulls.” These legislators haven’t even met me!

I was rescued by the kind English Springer Rescue America folks in December, and I now live in a nice foster home near Columbus, Ohio. My foster parents are wonderful--I love them, and they love me. I am very friendly, happy, and playful. I’m a goofball who loves to roll on his back and get belly rubs. I get along great with other dogs, and reportedly I am fine with cats, too. I know how to stay in our yard (we have an invisible fence here--no one can see it, but I know where it is). I am also housetrained.

Did I mention how smart I am? Did I tell you how much of a people pleaser I am? I would love for someone to do obedience work with me, and I would probably be great at agility. (Did I mention how modest I am?)

My foster mom says that she needs to tell you some things and that I need to quit hogging the computer. Okay, Mom . . .

This just in from Dale's foster parents: Dale recently attended an adoption event, and he was a true gentleman! We were all very proud of him. As much of a puppy as he is, he has very nice public behaviors. Dale was particularly charming with children who visited him.

Dale would love to find a home with a backyard to romp in. He would love having a playmate, but he would also be happy as an only dog. He may be just a little too active for a home with small children, but he would be fine in a home with children of grade-school age and older. Dale just loves everyone! Can you take him into your family and return that love to this special boy?
