Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Update 08/05/11: Robbie here I am so happy to be in Maine after traveling to so many places. If you like to travel and go on adventures I am the Yorkie for you I have racked up the frequent flier miles and now I am looking for a traveling buddy to call my very own. I ride excellent in cars and I love to travel and explore. I would like a buddy to travel through life with and have many more adventures with.
A fur brother and sister would be great for me and a fenced in yard. I love to play outside and foster Mum does not like it when she gives me a bath and I go outside and roll around on the lawn !! , ahhhhh woops.... I just can't help myself. hehe... I love to have my tummy rubed and to be brushed. I am such a sweet fella aww just look at my face how can you resist it. If you are looking for a buddy to call your very own I am the guy for you.
Please submit a application at www.uyr.us. Thanks, Robbie ...
Update 06/08/11: I went to the vet this week and I weigh 9.9 pounds I am in great health, I received updated vaccinations that I needed. I am doing very well in my foster home and I love to play with my fosters fur sisters and brothers. I am looking for a loving home to call my own and another fur sibling would be great ! I enjoy going for walks and playing in the fenced in yard and oh yeah I enjoy sitting on the couch and getting brushed.
If you are looking for a companion I am the yorkie for you.
Update 05/28/11: Robbie Here Well I finally made it to Maine from Missouri and boy was I glad to finally be able to run and play in the fenced in backyard! I had a busy week; I went to the groomers, got a haircut and went to the vet for a wellness check and to get some updated vaccinations! The vet says I weigh a strapping 9 pounds!!
I love to play with my Yorkie foster siblings but my favorite thing is to lie on your lap and to snuggle. Oh yeah...I love to give kisses and to be held and patted.
I walk well on a leash and must wear a harness at all times! I love to play with toys. I am eating and drinking well and I have settled into my foster home
I have traveled quite a bit to get here...I started out in California then Arizona then Missouri and finally Maine. Thank you UYR for making it possible to get me to Maine and thank you to all of the people that made a donation to help with my vet costs.
Robbie signing off for now I will check in later.
UPDATE 5/24/11: Robie is scheduled to arrive in his new foster home tonight....yeah. Check back for updates on how he did on his roadtrip.
Update 5/10/11: Robie is doing so well but this 4 year old needs more room to play so he is packing his bags and moving to Maine (along with Sir Rudy!) next week. If you live in Maine and feel that you can be my 'forever' home please submit an adoption application. We will let you know when he gets settled into his new foster home.
Update 04/08/11: Robie is amazing.......he is eating hard food mixed with his soft. His tube is gone and we finished with all his meds.
Update 04/07/11: Robie is good and getting well......had his feeding tube removed and is eating anything and everything he can get hold of. Being young and healthy has helped his recovery.
Update 03/29/11: Today was a good day for all.....Robie came back home. Robie had so much trouble with the pins and mouth wiring, we made the decision to remove the broken part of his jaw. Up to that point, Robie had given up and the spark had gone from his eyes. Dr. Linney did a great job and when the hair grows back you will not see any difference from one side to the other. When Robie came home tonight he got up on the couch, gave a big sigh and went to sleep. He still has his feeding tube for the next 2-3 weeks and is fed every 2 hours. I must admit giving him drugs is SOOOO MUCH easier. I tell him all the time how much he is loved by all of you. He is such a sweet dog.
Update 03/24/11: Hi everyone! Robie here! For those that may not remember, I'm the guy from Orange County, Ca with the broken jaw. I had it operated on, but it just didn't mend right. In fact, it came apart and hurt like crazy! My former family took me to the Orange County shelter because it cost too much for them to fix me again. Foster-mom Terrie (and Foster-dad Carl) came over from Phoenix and took me to her vet who was really nice to me, but said my problem was too complicated for him and referred me to Dr. Linney. He operated and even put a piece of bone from my shoulder between the two ends of the break and then he put in metal rods to keep the ends together. The rods stick out from my jaw and get in the way. My step-brothers and step-sister call me "Cone Head" because I had to wear this "thing" over my head. ( I love them anyway and they made me feel really welcome otherwise.)
I have a little problem eating and haven't found anything I really like, yet. Foster-mom Terrie has tried baby foods, fancy foods, food the Doctor gave her and all kinds of variations, but I just can't eat very well, yet. (I eat better shortly after I get my "Happy Medicine" the Dr. prescribed!)
More later,
wags and licks
Robie
Update 03-17-11: Robie was listed as special needs (translation no hope) at a Southern California shelter his jaw was broken! Poor Robie, his family tried to help him but the first surgery didnt work and they couldnt afford to try again. No less than 3 UYR volunteers called the shelter almost immediately when we received notice about him and his foster mom drove all the way from Arizona to pick him up! Luckily, he got to visit the ocean before they headed back to Arizona, where he had a much more complex surgery thanks to UYR. Well keep you posted on his recovery but right now he is a bit sore and has hardware in his mouth! Still, Robies foster mom tells us he is the cutest, sweetest, friendliest most trusting little guy who knows his commands (sit, down, stay) and is a perfect gentleman despite all he has been through. We think he is only about 4 years old.
Initial Bio 03/05/11: Meet Robie......he is the most delightful 4 year old little guy you have seen. He goes to the vet today and will update all on the broken jaw but you can't tell when looking at him. OC did send copies of xrays and it is clearly broke.
OC had no info on who or any info about him as they do not do intakes like most rescue groups.
I can tell you he knows his commands such as sit, down, stay ( and he does) and come. He is very loveable, seems to like kids but iffy on cats. He gets along with all my group but "really" loves my little girl. I will be asking the vet about that. He is neutered and we don't know why but his hip area has been shaved in the past 3-6 months as it is much shorter.
This little guy will make a great pet for someone and I hope soon.
One of the most well mannered, loving and trusting I have seen in some time.
