Here's what the humans have to say about me:
He is a gorgeous young dog with medium length, wavy hair. He is blonde in colour with some black markings. Rhett really reminds us of a Border Collie and the black markings put us to mind of a Shepherd. He is a great boy...seems well rounded. Rhett is awesome with other dogs, great with kids. Not cat tested yet. He has amazing recall. Rhett wants to please his owner sooo badly! And Rhett is also typical Collie high energy so he will require lots of exercise to stay happy. Rhett was surrendered to us from a rural shelter as he landed himself in there as a stray. They commented he never had to be leashed when in the shelter or outside as he would simply stay with them and listen when told where to go. Foster home is also finding that. Rhett was in a shelter for a long time...no one bothered to come claim him. He is neutered already, so someone went to the trouble to have that surgery done, then when Rhett was lost, did not look for him! Rhett is having his left eye looked at...at this time we feel it is not repairable and will have to come out. We are planning to take care of that surgery if it is necessary for the eye to be extracted. We removed Rhett from the shelter on a leap of faith...we knew that someone would simply not adopt him out of a shelter with his eye looking the way it does...we knew we were his only chance at a great future. We simply could not leave a highly adoptable, young dog sitting in a shelter until his death just because he requires extra vet care prior to being adopted. It will be a financial stress to our small rescue, but we feel he is worth the trouble for sure...and we just know there will be a wonderful forever home out there for him that does not care in the least he has one eyeball. Rhett will also be vaccinated and heartworm checked prior to adoption. He has been treated with flea prevention as well.
