My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, meet Winnie! She is a pretty long hair chocolate dapple girl weighing in at about 18 lbs. She will turn 7 years old in March. She is spayed, up to date on her vaccines, and micro chipped. Winnie is Heartworm and Lyme negative.
Can anyone give Winnie another chance? Winnie is a very sweet, gentle girl. She was adopted at age 2.5 years and had spent the last 3.5 years being loved dearly by her family. She was very well cared for. Winnie is good with children but might do best in a home without children or a home where children have been taught to handle dogs appropriately.

Winnie is crate trained but may have accidents in her crate after 4-6 hours. She may have accidents if left out of her crate unsupervised for more than a few hours. Winnie does very well with her potty training when she is being supervised. She has very few accidents when her foster humans are home. She needs to learn where the proper place is to go, like all new dogs. Winnie only gives the most subtle clues that she has to go so she needs to be let out regularly.

Winnie loves car rides, walks, and the beach. She enjoys playing and running all over the house with her dachshund friends. You wouldn’t guess that she is six years old the way that they carry on! She prances, and is just so happy when she is playing. Winnie would love to have another doxie or two around to play with! She is also great with her kitties and does not chase them.

Winnie is shy and timid at first when she meets you. She is quite a cuddler once she gets to know you. Winnie does pick out her favorite human and bonds deeply with that person, following them around everywhere. She might do best in a home where she is not left alone too much. Winnie is learning basic commands like "sit" and "stay" in her foster home.

Do you have the time to spend with Winnie to make her feel more secure? Can you help her work through any separation anxiety and to help socialize her with strangers? She really needs a kind, gentle person to call her own! Winnie will be such a lucky girl if you give her another chance for a loving forever home!

If you are interested in Winnie please email her foster mom at Ljb3232@aol.com and please fill out an Adoption Application. Winnie's adoption fee is $225.
