Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATE 11/16/11 Katie knee is doing great and she is ready for a new home. She will need a quiet setting, with some space and might do best with a canine companion to help her trust a new situation. UPDATE..10/14/11...After getting the all clear from the surgeon, Katie started favoring her knee again so we took her in for a recheck and she was diagnosed with some infection in her knee. She is on antibiotics for 30 days and the hardware in her knee (which is no longer needed) from the original TPLO surgery has to be removed Oct. 21rst. We are looking at the first week ( and possibly a little later) in November before she will be allowed to go home with a new family so we can be sure she is past any further setbacks. She continues to be a wonderful couch potato of a girl. ..... UPDATE...Katie is now in a foster home and ready for adoption. She no longer is restricted in any way other than no rough housing with other dogs for a couple more weeks. She is being walked daily to rebuild the muscle and strength and the knee is improving daily. Katie has proven to be housebroken and very well behaved in her foster home. She of course walks beautifully on leash and also rides well in the car. Katie is great with kitties and is going to make wonderful companion for someone......... Katie is 2.5 years old, and she and her brother Jake were turned into an animal control facility in southern Illinois in very poor condition. Both were extremely underweight, covered in fleas and ticks, and matted to the point of having to be completely shaved. Katie is gradually gaining weight, and with the fleas and ticks taken care of, her coat is growing back healthy and thick. Soon after her arrival, we discovered that Katie had a torn ACL in her right back leg. She had the necessary surgery to correct the tear on June 24, and she is currently in the recovery and rehabilitation stage. She must be kept quiet and leash walked for 8 weeks following the surgery, but she is healing well. Upon her recovery, Katie will be able to live a happy, normal life, which she desperately deserves. She is a little quiet and shy with new people but warms up quickly and loves to be loved on. Katie gets along well with other dogs, and we hope to learn more about her as she is allowed more freedom as her recovery progresses.
