Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hiya people! It’s me, Buster the Beagle Jack Russell Terrier mix! I am a 20 lb, 2 year old, outgoing pup. My last family said I was too energetic for them but I am just a typical, active youngster! Therefore, even though I am a compact little hound I would probably do best in a home with a yard rather in an apartment.
I like EVERYONE – men, women and children. However, I would really appreciate it if everyone in my family understands that dogs don’t think being teased or awakened suddenly is much fun. I also like friendly dogs and cats. When considering how I would fit in with your other four-leggers, please remember that I am cheerful and playful so I may irritate older dogs and grumpy cats.
I love walks and playtime in the yard is a blast! After the initial excitement of knowing I am going for a walk I calm down and walk well on a leash. I need to be kept leashed when outside my yard since I have Beagle instincts and will just follow my nose oblivious to what else is happening. I have an excellent nose and like to track interesting scents! Toys and chews are a must for me since I am still youngster. Right now if it’s (mostly) edible I love to eat it. Another Beagle trait! Kongs are good, especially stuffed with peanut butter. In fact, anything stuffed with peanut butter is good.
I am affectionate and I enjoy quiet times cuddling up watching a sunset or TV as well. I really get into some TV shows and if a dog is featured then I bark to show my support. I am accustomed to being kenneled (crated) but I used to sleep with my human at night. I am not keen on car rides and feel sick on longer journeys. This may be a mixture of a physical (that can be treated with pills) and a psychological (that can be treated with patience and small yummy treats) condition. The folks at MaxFund can tell you all how to help me get to enjoy (well maybe just tolerate) car rides. I also believe hair dryers and vacuum cleaners are to be treated with suspicion.
If you are considering adopting me please remember that I will need your patience and gentle guidance because I am still a youngster. Just like human children, how I behave depends on how I am treated. I would definitely benefit from puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement training classes. I already know how to “sit” politely and since I am a smart young hound (and treat-motivated) I know I will be a good student and make you proud of me.
I love visitors so please come and take me for a walk. If you are energetic and want a partner in the adventure of life we may be a great match! So – let’s go!
