My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**ADOPTION PENDING**
"JOSS" - This beautiful, 1 1/2 year old, purebred Border Collie was given up to the Animal Rescue League in Boston by his owner because they had to move and couldn't take him. He has come into rescue. He is will be neutered before placement, and the ARL has brought him up-to-date on all his shots and microchipped him. He is heartworm negative and on preventative. Joss is also dysplastic, so needs hip surgery. ARL couldn't afford his surgery, and neither could we. But thanks to all the generous donations we received, we were able to give Joss this needed treatment. Joss has had surgery on one hip and is recovering well. The other is not as bad and can wait for surgery at a later time, if at all.

There is no question as to whether Joss deserves a chance at a normal life, because he is a a total love, and will climb in your lap and give you kisses. He follows his foster mom around the house. He is a typical young Border Collie with all the energy that implies, and he does not let his bad hips get in the way, even jumping baby gates with ease, except that sometimes after heavy exercise he limps. Joss has had little or no training and is learning many things for the first time in his foster home. He now knows sit, come, and is crate and house trained. We will require basic obedience training for Joss. While he gets along ok with most dogs, he is sometimes too rambunctious for them. However, if they tell him to "bug off", he usually does. Sometimes when they are growling at him, though, he just acts like a big goof and play bows. He loves to play with toys, and though a soft elephant is his favorite toy, he only tosses it about and mouths it, he hasn't torn it apart yet. He is also reputed to be fine with cats. He would make an excellent, active pet, and this type of hip surgery requires exercise to keep the muscles fit to take the place of the missing ball-and-socket hip joints, so there is no worry that hip surgery will make an invalid of Joss. Joss comes from a pet store and has registration papers. He is now being fostered in Connecticut.

You MUST first fill out an adoption application AND have a home visit BEFORE being considered for any NEBCR dog. As this process can take time, we recommend that you complete these first 2 steps BEFORE inquiring about a specific dog.
