Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Fostered in Charlotte, NC:
To pursue the adoption of Abby, you must first complete an Adoption Application which is located under the Online Forms tab at www.NCYorkieRescue.org.
Abbie (Abigail) is a beautiful 2 year old, 11 pound Yorkie who needs a very special Forever Home. Abbie was taken from a filthy puppy mill at 18 months of age and had lived in inside a metal building where she had never seen sunshine or felt the loving human contact. When we got her, her foster family, we quickly realized she was pregnant- the vet confirmed it: she was going to have 4 puppies in 2 weeks! On March 22 Abbie had the full blooded Yorkie pups. She spent 8 weeks nurturing and caring for them- the perfect mom! After they were adopted, we were able to begin Abbie's recovery period, which required a lot of patience. It was a super day when she learned to go in and out the back door on her own. So many new experiences for her! She was like a newborn child, learning all about the world. This year we had a lot of violent thunderstorms which really set her back. Even the wind rustling in the trees scared her. By August Abbie had become more adjusted to normal life.
Abbie's perfect Forever Family should be a "female only" situation. She still shys away from men and children. She is not aggressive whatsoever, never, just timid and shy, withdrawing to her safe zones, in her crate or behind furniture. However with me, her female mom, she is very loving and feels secure, giving lots of kisses and sharing my pillow at night, in the bed, of course! The family should have a small playmate for her: here she loves playing with 2 small Yorkies. One will have a small stuffed animal, and they run chasing each other just how Abbie played with her pups. Also, she has to have a fenced yard; she has yet to "walk" on a leash. She sits down and will not budge! I think with time she will accept the new feeling of the leash.
Abbie's Forever Family would have to be very patient with her while she continues her recovery and learns how great the rest of her life will be! She deserves the very best after such a terrible beginning. Of course, she is spayed, up to date on shots and ready for that special family to share the rest of her fabulous life! Adoption fee and donation does apply.
We do not make money on the yorkies we adopt to new families, we use whatever remaining money we have to help other yorkies in need. NC Yorkie Rescue, Inc. is a small group of dedicated and sincere yorkie lovers. We take all yorkies, regardless of age or health issues. We are a 501(c)(3), non-profit rescue group. A home visit may be performed before the adoption is approved and an adoption application must be submitted and approved as well. All of our yorkies come with complimentary training sessions, either by a personal visit to the office or a telephone consultation, to help their transition into their new home. Please contact NCYorkieRescue@AOL.com for more information and be sure to visit www.NCYorkieRescue.org and fill out an adoption application, located on the top of the page - FORMS, to be eligible for adoption. Thank you for wanting to adopt a rescued yorkie, and please always spay and neuter your pets!
