Here's what the humans have to say about me:
January 26, 2012- Max is a GORGEOUS 8 year old male Boxer . Max's story is sad. Max came into our program about a year ago; he was passed along by his owner where he lived outside and was basically used to breed. The person that took Max was unable to keep him as they had many animals of their own. Max had been living in a barn prior to coming into our program. He was a very sweet boy, that needed a lot of TLC. He did not seem to know any commands, and needed help with house breaking and learning on how to be a dog. Max spent a few month in a foster home that had two other canine companions and he was really worked with to learn "how to be a dog" and his rehabilitation went well. He was then placed in his current adoptive home, but unfortunately, they are no longer able to care for him.
Max is exhibiting signs of severe separation anxiety and has reverted back to some of his old habits. Max is a very sweet boy that needs boundaries, limitations and discipline. We will be looking to place Max in a home with another canine companion to help with his insecurities and separation anxiety. He will need a very strong leader that will be willing to work with Max on a day to day basis to help him get back to being a happy go lucky dog. Due to his separation anxiety, Max will need a home where someone is home more often than not and someone that is willing to work with Max on these behaviors. He will need a family that is REALLY willing to exercise Max and walk him on a daily basis.
Max was fine in the crate, but has begun to show signs of destruction in it, so his new home will need to work with him and re introduce him to the crate. Max is a dog that needs and WANTS to be with his humans more often than not. Max's new family will also be required to bring him to training.
If you have the time and dedication, then Max is your boy! He will make someone a WONDERFUL companion.
