Meet Missy! This gorgeous girl was rescued from a less-than-ideal living situation…..the ditch outside of an apartment complex, next to a busy road, in the middle of town. Missy is 30 pounds, about 10-12 months old, and has a lovely red coat and amber eyes. She looks like she might be an Australian Shepherd/Golden Retriever mix. She knows how to use the dog door to the fenced in back yard, and is learning basic commands. The leash is still a bit of a mystery, but we’re working on that. Missy loves to be outside, and will make regular trips in and out of the house through the dog door. She loves to chase Kong tennis balls and play with dog toys.
When she is happy to see you, or it’s time to eat, her whole back end wiggles and she can hardly contain her excitement. She is exuberant in her love of her foster mom and her 6-year old son (who is very dog-savvy), and literally wraps herself around their legs for attention. Smaller children might overwhelm her, though, especially if they try to chase her or pull on her. Missy does have one big fear in her life: Men. The sight of a man sends her bolting for the door, peeing in the floor, and/or cowering in the corner. Her forever family would need to take this into consideration, and be willing to have patience to help her overcome this fear. She is getting along well with the other big dogs in the household (ranging from 4 to 11 years old), and would do great in a home where she could have a playmate to keep her company all the time.
She is heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative, is on Frontline, has been spayed, and is UPD on vaccinations. Could you be the wonderful family this lovely girl deserves? If you'd like to find out more information about our adoption procedure or to apply for this dog click here ......
