My story

Meet Nigel Ratbone, a pint sized Rat Terrier mix. He is 6.5 pounds of pure sweetness and love! This pocket full of sunshine is 2 years old and a very loving fellow. He is shy at first, but will soon warm up and become a wiggly mess when he gets comfortable with you. Nigel gets along great with other dogs, is scared of cats and loves everyone that he meets, once he gets to know them. He is a complete lap dog and loves nothing more than to cuddle up on a warm lap or beside his human, all snuggled up on his blanket. Nigel is crate trained, but doesn't really enjoy being in one for too long, so a home where someone would be with him part of the day would be his dream. He is also house trained. It doesn't seem that Nigel was ever walked on a leash, but with a little patience and encouragement, he has gotten a lot better. Nigel is very smart and listens very well, and all that he wants to do is please you, so teaching him new things has been very easy. He was surrendered to a high kill shelter in North Carolina by an owner that couldn't be bothered with taking care of him. It doesn't seem like little Nigel was treated with much kindness in his first home, but with some love and patience he has been an absolute pleasure for his foster family! He loves everyone, but because of his size and shyness a home with older children would be best for this tiny little man. So, if you are looking for a handsome, sweet and super cute little companion, then Nigel is the man for you! More pictures can be seen here.
