As you can see Drew is a handsome boy! Unfortunately life has not been kind to Drew and as such he is a bit shy and fearful. Our dedicated and loving volunteers have been working with him on his shyness and we're happy to report he is making great progress! Here's what his foster Mom has to say:
"Drew is doing great! I can notice his comfort level increasing, and he is not jumping at every sound anymore. He seems willing to learn anything, as long as people can be patient with him. He is still working on his trust, and on occasion he "pancakes" to the ground but he is doing this less, so I do see improvement.
Drew loves to cuddle. At every chance he will plop himself onto your lap, or right next to you. His whole body goes limp, and he totally melts into your arms. This is his favorite thing, being held or cuddled.
Drew sleep great in his crate the whole night through (I'm sure he would prefer cuddling up under the covers on the bed though). He is such a calm easy going dog, I'm sure he will fit in almost any living situation but would be enjoy an adult only household. All he craves, is to love and be loved.
He has no problem sharing space with the other dogs or cats, he loves being close. He is very excited by my Dane swimming in the pool, and runs along side the pool until the Dane jumps out. And then they begin the serious game of tag in the grass... Drew is always the one chasing from behind, and I think he is faster than the Dane. It is a joy to watch, 100lb dog being chased by the 5lb dog... both with huge smiles on their faces and tails wagging."
Drew is looking for a home with a patient, loving family. A home with another playful, affectionate dog is ideal. Daily walks are a bonus for his spry boy too! Drew is guaranteed to make you smile and give you lots of love and attention all the days of his life. If you have what he's looking for, please fill out an application for him today - www.azrescue.org.
Drew weighed a mere 5.5 pounds when we saved him from the kill list.
