My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

James is a male tricolor rough collie, just reaching his first birthday. His owners were moving and could not take James or his brother Merlin (now adopted!). James is thriving in his foster home. James was given no training at all and was unneutered when he came into rescue, but his foster mom and dad have worked very hard to socialize and train him. He is housebroken and walks well on a leash with his gentle leader. He is still a puppy and still needs more training as he gets older, but what a fun dog and very sweet dog he is!

James just loves to run, play, fetch and tug. Because of his lack of socialization, NCR will not place him in a home with young children but a family with older children would be ideal for him. He would also do well with an adopter who has an athletic, active lifestyle. He seems too interested in the foster home's cat, and he will certainly chase a cat that runs away from him. Probably he should not be placed in a home with cats or other small animals, unless the adopters are experienced at dog training or the cat is large and assertive.

If you are up for James's youth and energy and able to give the structure and the active life he needs, then James might be just the collie for you. Updated 10.26.06
