Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Amber weighs 15 lbs, and we think she is about 12-18 months old. She has the beautiful coloring and hair texture of a silky/yorkie, and she has a docked tail. Amber is so loving and patient. She recently babysat two foster puppies, and you could tell she really enjoyed helping to teach them life's doggie lessons; it was a joy to see. She has such a sweet and gentle spirit.
We think Amber may have been dumped -- and by that I mean some moron dumped her by the side of the road and left her there to fend for herself. A domestic dog, not unlike a child, is completely dependent upon her human for her physical and emotional needs. You would never abandon a 3-yr-old child in a strange place and think she can fend for herself. A dog is going to have the same confusion and fear, and be exposed to the same types of dangers as she wanders the streets, looking for her human. Fortunately Amber was picked up by a good samaritan who brought her to safety.
Amber has been through a lot in her young life, and is understandably timid, but she is making remarkable progress in learning to trust again. Amber is like a spring flower right now -- blossoming, learning, and coming out of her shell. She now enjoys walks and comes when she sees the leash. She now enjoys playing with toys, people, other dogs, and she is best known for her shoe stealing antics. :) She also likes to chase the birds out of the backyard. Amber would benefit from having another well-socialized and playful dog in her new home, as long as that dog is nice and treats her kindly.
Amber is very loving when she feels secure with you, but at first she is timid and hides from people she doesn't know. Amber is a quiet little girl who would do best in a quiet home because she is nervous around loud noises and people who move too quickly. She will come up to you after she knows you, to be petted and loved, but at first she prefers to keep her distance. Give Amber a week or two and she will be your best friend. She is absolutely the best lap sitter around. She is a good girl who never complains; she will lie quietly at your feet while you're working at the computer, and she's good if she has to stay home alone for a little while (just remember to put your shoes away!). Amber is incredibly sweet, and improving daily. She will make a wonderful companion for the person who will love her and let her know that she is safe.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vet checked, current on vaccinations, microchipped, groomed, de-wormed, de-flea'd, and come with a collar, leash, ID tag, and puppy kisses from the lucky dog you take home!
If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Amber, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.
