Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Adult Female, Border Collie and Mini Australian Shepherd
Aussie (formerly Missy) was pulled from a New Mexico shelter on her scheduled euthanasia date just in the nick of time. She was a volunteer favorite there and they worked very hard to help her get out to a rescue.
Aussie was adopted and is now available for adoption again due to allergy issues. She is currently living with her owner until a new home can be found. This information was written by her current owner:
Aussie is approximately twenty pounds and looks like she could be a miniature Border collie Australian Shepherd mix. She will be two years old in June. She needs an environment where someone is home most of the time or has another small dog as a play mate. Her puppy behaviors have diminished. She used to enjoy chewing shoes but hasn’t partaken in this pass time for about six months. I give her rawhide treats to chew on and she loves them.
She is an extremely affectionate dog and likes sitting in laps. She demands a lot of attention and would be good in a family situation with children.
She lives in a house with a big back yard and accesses a doggy door to get in and out. She chooses to spend a lot of time outdoors. She has made a porch swing her headquarters to relax and watch for strangers that walk their dogs along the back fence. She will bark at passer byes at the back fence but is not a dog that barks excessively. She is completely house trained and has never had an accident in the house. She is good with little dogs but afraid of big dogs.
She is a hard dog to keep off the furniture. She believes she deserves more than a dog bed on the floor so she has her own lazy boy chair in the living room with a dog bed on it where she sleeps. She would happily sleep with someone in bed I am sure but I don’t allow her to do this.
I started to train her to heal in the summer months and she was doing really well but I have not been walking her in the past few months. She has walking harnesses and a leash that I will give to a new owner. She loves squeaky stuffed animal toys. She will not be a good dog for an elderly person because she likes getting under foot. I have not been able to train her to not jump up on her hind legs for attention. This may be because she does not get enough attention. She will greet you with excitement when you come home and flower affection on house guests. She is a little bundle of happiness! Cute beyond words! I am looking for a new home because of a dog allergy and will only let her go to the home that is right for her.
