Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Chelsea is an adorable min pin/chihuahua mix who was found locally as a stray dog and was never claimed. She is about 2-3 years old and weighs 6.5 pounds. Chelsea is a very, very smart little girl who is very athletic and funny. She loves sitting in foster dad's lap and sits at the door when it is time for him to come home! She also sleeps under the covers with him! Chelsea does get along and play with some of the other chihuahuas in her foster home, but would probably enjoy a home with one other playful small dog. She hasn't been tested with cats but she does have quite a bit of spunk so might chase them or even play with them. Chelsea will do best with teens and adults and having someone home a lot would be her dream come true! She is very dependably house trained to go outdoors or to use a puppy pad in bad weather. Chelsea is with a 501c3 non profit rescue. SHE IS MUCH MUCH CUTER IN PERSON--SHE DOESN'T LIKE THE CAMERA BEING POINTED AT HER! Her adoption fee is $300 and she is spayed, heartworm negative and on prevention, up to date on shots and worming and has a HomeAgain microchip.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
• Homeowners: Strongly preferred
• Status of adopter: Mature adult
• Previous dog owning experience: Preferred
• Age of children: Teens and adults
• Another dog in the home: No more than 1 other little dog; can be an only dog if her human is home most of the time
• Cat(s) in the home: Not cat tested
• Fenced yard: Strongly preferred or daily walks required
