Notes: Pudge - baby (Approximately 14 weeks as of Sept. 16) - Lab/Beagle? (best guess) - 28 pounds - cream and yellow short coat - not expected to exceed 50 pounds when fully grown
This innocent, joyful, and open-faced bundle of simple goodness is Pudge.
Pudge and his mother, Dolly came into care shortly after his birth. As a result, he has known nothing but love and frankly, indulgence, throughout his life. His sweet and kindly outlook, his wondering interest in the world around him, his efforts to solve problems as his little brow furrows, and his gentle belief in a world that would not harm him have been a privilege to share.
Pudge, his mom, and one additional litter mate came into our care after suffering great neglect, and Pudge's little brother did not survive despite all available medical support. Pudge's foster mom and canine mom combined forces to ensure the well-being of Pudge, and they both admit to overcompensating. As a result, their "only child" grew into a most portly and contented puppy, and this is how he came to be called "Pudge".
Today, he remains the sweetest and most responsive being ever. Obviously a mutt, his genetics to us are a work of Nature's genius. It would have been hard to predict that this little offspring of Dolly could have such long legs and hazel eyes; however, anyone could have seen that he would be a wonderful little fellow.
It is not so much that Pudge is a genius, particularly graceful, or that he can resist happily sampling any new object which he discovers. What is so profoundly touching about Pudge is his joyful acceptance - the boundless pleasure he derives from every new creature, person and experience he encounters. He is as thrilled to spend time quietly with a toy as to be cuddled and held - every meal holds renewed delight - graduation from washable puppy blankets to a "big dog" bed was a source of proud and solemn ecstacy. He will leave a mighty hole in his foster home when he is adopted
Pudge's training accomplishments include "come", "sit", and what in his foster home is termed "being a big dog" outside. Still very much a baby, his training will, of course, ask ongoing positive support, which will be a joy because Pudge loves to learn.
Pudge has the happy expectancy of a trusting heart, which he will give fully to his adopter(s).
