Update 10/26/2011- Chauncey is still doing great. He loves a good scratch behind the ears. Even though he only has one tooth he still likes to eat small bites hard dog food. As a treat he gets some soft food as well. We rescued a rabbit recently and Chauncey loves him. They are good pals already and that shows how sweet this boy is. Chauncey will walk up to him in the yard and his tail will just be wagging away. I know Chauncey deserves a wonderful forever home. If he could talk his wish for the holidays would be for a forever home and loving family. I am here to answer any questions you may have about Chauncey, just send me an email. If you are truly interested in giving Chauncey and his brother Winston a forever home please fill out an application. These boys would be great for an adult home or home with older children because of their size and age.
UPDATE 7/31/11: Chauncey is feeling much better. He continued to cough after his antibiotics ran out so he visited the vet once more. The vet did an x-ray to examine his heart. They found no problems and decided to try a different medicine. This time he got the right medicine and is feeling like himself again. It seems that his throat was just very irritated and will not need any further medication. Yay! Chauncey has been using his pee pad more lately probably because of the heat outside. He has a place where he knows he pee pad is and uses it well. Chauncey enjoys being with you. It is so cute when he goes down the hallway to follow you he has to run. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about Chauncey!
Update 5/31/2011: Chauncey went to the vet and had his annual vaccinations. He had to go back to the vet again because he was coughing. The vet said they couldn't hear or see anything serious, so they gave him some antibiotics. The medicine should clear up his coughing in a couple of weeks. Chauncey is a cute guy and everyone loves him. Would you consider being Chauncey and Winston's forever home? Fill out an application today!
Update 4/13/2011- Chauncey is enjoying his foster home. It has taken him some time but he has become much more comfortable with his environment. So, when he finds his forever home he needs someone who will be patient with him while he adjusts. Chauncey doesnt mind being in a kennel. So, if you are going to be out for a little while he can take a nap in it while you are away. Chauncey has been going potty outside more and using his pee pad less. At night Chauncey loves to sleep on a pillow next to you and he doesnt mind sleeping in, in the morning. He has a strong sense of smell and loves to seek out people food. So youll want to be sure and keep food out of his reach. Chauncey has the cutest little tail wag when he is excited to see you when you come home. He has a lot of love to give and is waiting for his forever home. Please fill out an application for Chauncey and Winston if you think you are the forever home for them!
Update 3/16/2011: After yesterdays dental, Chauncey has one tooth left. He had 4 taken out that were bad. He is a trooper and is recovering quickly. Chauncey is up to date on his shots, heartworm negative, on heartworm prevention, and ready for his forever home! Chauncey loves to be inside with his foster mom. Chauncey has been trained to go potty on a pee pad. When he first arrived, Chauncey got the rug confused for a pee pad. Now, he knows the pee pad is by the back door and where he should relieve himself. His foster mom is working on encouraging Chauncey to go potty outside with the rest of the pack. He goes outside most of the time, but uses his pee pad if he doesnt make it. When Chauncey is inside he likes to hang out on his bed or follow his foster mom around. Chauncey definitely likes to sit with her when she is relaxing. If she forgets about him he will give her a few cute barks to let her know to pick me up so I can be with you. Chauncey and Winston need to go to the same forever home because they have been together for many years. Chauncey will do best if he and his brother are the only dogs in the home. However, Chauncey loves his foster moms cat and wags his little tail when he sees him. Also, because of his small size Chauncey needs to be in an adult home or one with older children. If you think you would be a match for Chauncey and Winston, please fill out an application.
Update 3/1/2011: Chauncey and his brother went to the vet today. Chauncey weighs 5.9 lbs. The vet checked the few teeth that he has and said some of them look like they need to come out. So, Chauncey has to have a dental done. The vet estimated about $235 for it. Chauncey appreciates any donations towards his dental. It is possible that they will have to remove all of his teeth. Chauncey has a low level of energy. He likes to take naps on his blanket next to my chair during the day. He needs help getting to higher and lower places. When he lays in the bed he needs a lift onto and off of the bed. If you have stairs in your home he will need assistance. He is very comfortable with his brother Winston. We think it is best that they go to the same home. They have been together for many years.
Initial Bio 2/27/2011- Meet Chauncey! Chauncey is a 12 year old 4lb male Yorkie being fostered in Nocona, Texas. He was surrendered because his previous owner was moving. Since Chauncey is a mature guy we think it would be best if he was the only dog in the home. However, he does get along with cats. He is a little shy with new people at first so we are still getting to know each other. Please check back soon!
