My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rocket! He is a mellow and sweet 3 year-old male. This very good boy could make a wonderful addition to your life.

Rocket is smart and likes to please by following his commands: sit, stay, down, wait, shake, kiss and high-five. His “come” could use some work, but he will respond when you are being positive or shake a treat jar. He is fairly calm in the house, preferring to snuggle and a nap to chewing or catching toys. When he has some excess energy, he grabs a tennis ball and throws it to himself- quite a sight! He does well staying home alone- no crate required. He is very clean, has not had an accident inside the house and walks towards a door when he wants to go outside. He is leash trained and LOVES to walk. He could go for hours. He’s comfortable riding in a car also.

He is fine with young children and does not react when a child is hugging him or petting him. If you let him, he would love to sleep in your bed. We tell him to sleep in his bed at the foot of ours and he is happy. He plays well in our fenced in back yard and has made no attempts to jump the three-foot tall fence.

PLEASE NOTE: Rocket has a history of dog aggression. On walks he may show huge interest in one strange dog, while simply ignoring others. His previous owners say he does well at dog parks off leash, but we haven’t tried it. At this time, we are keeping him away from other dogs. We do positive reinforcement training when he ignores strange dogs. I think with time and proper training, this aggression could subside. It would be best for him to be in a single dog household. On the topic of aggressions, he has no food aggression. You can remove food and toys from his mouth without a problem, and our 4-year-old nephew’s enthusiastic attention never rattled him.

If you are willing to give Rocket a little extra time, he will give you his heart. If you desire a sweet, polite and furry friend, Rocket is your man. Please consider being his forever home.

The adoption fee for Rocket is $300.
