Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Krissy is a chihuahua/shih tzu who was rescued from a small local breeder with too many dogs. She looks like a rat terrier but her temperament is pure shih tzu. She does not have a shih tzu coat and she does shed a little. Krissy is 5-7 years old and weighs 12 pounds. Foster mom says Krissy is a love bug and is perfectly happy to sit on her lap for hours. She can be really mellow but she's also got a lot of energy and will run around outside with the other dogs in the foster home. She does interact with them some but is pretty independent. Krissy is not at all aggressive and is a very happy little girl. She's like my foster mom's little shadow and will follow her all over the house but not in a needy way. Krissy is house trained and enjoys being in the fenced yard where she does play some with the other dogs. She is also fine with cats but has never lived with kids, so an adult home would be best. Krissy likes men and women equally. She does love going on walks when the weather allows. Krissy is with a 501c3 non profit rescue. Her $250.00 adoption fee covers only half her vet bill. She is spayed, heartworm negative and on prevention, up to date on shots and worming and has a HomeAgain microchip.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
