Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Filly Needs a Foster Home
Filly is a 3 year old black female with natural ears. She is a sweet girl, with a very calm nature, and a funny way of romping and playing. She’s SO happy to see everyone that comes to visit, and just wants to cuddle and be close. She is good on leash, and loves to go for walks. She knows and responds to both verbal commands and hand signals, though she can be a little stubborn sometimes. She is a very smart girl, who will test limits, and will become pushy if she is allowed to, so she needs an experienced home, with owners who will set and maintain appropriate behavior rules. She has lived with cats. She’s just curious and will sniff them until they hiss, and then she leaves them alone. She is not sure about other dogs - she’s fine in public, when everyone’s leashed, but she can be nervous when they get in her space. We are working on building her confidence, but for now, she clearly would prefer to be an only dog.
Update 1/26/12 - Filly has just lost her foster home because her family had to move away, and is looking for a new family either with no other dogs, or with a calm, laid-back dog. Her fosters worked with her a lot on socialization, and have determined that when in a home setting, she will push back if pushed, and seems to be very nervous around dogs who are nervous themselves. Out and about on a leash, she is fine with other dogs and minds her manners. She is a smart girl who does definitely like to see what she can get away with, but she just loves people, and is terrific with kids. As her last foster wrote: “Filly has been so gentle and sweet with my 16 month old nephew! She goes up to him slowly, stands there for him to pet. At first, when he started to act scared because of her size, she backed off. Filly was also playing with a ball of his, but when he threw it for her she stopped playing... I think it was because she didn't want to knock him over.” Filly is very affectionate, and will make a wonderful addition to a family.
