Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Christy, approximately 1 1/2 years old and her 3 puppies ended up at the Nash County, NC shelter before Christmas. Her pups were adopted, but Christy kept being overlooked. When her time was up we decided that this sweet mama deserved a chance at a new life, just as much as her offspring so we brought her home.
She has turned out to be a really nice and sweet dog. She is very happy and has the sunny personality of a golden retriever. If it wasn't for the black coloring on her back I would think she was close to being a purebred golden. Although she was initially unsure of being in the house and navigating stairs she has overcome that. She is also housetrained and has not had a single accident since coming here.
She also loves playing with the other dogs in particular the boys. We don't have children or cats, but most likely she will be fine with both. She is a bit exuberant at feeding time and I am working with her on that. She just gets so excited about eating! Who knows, she may have had to fight for her food in the past. She has learned to sit and is working on wait when the dish is put on the floor. She's also learning to shake hands.
We are looking for a home where Christy will be part of the family and live inside with outdoors playtime. She has already been through enough in her young life so we want to be sure she will only have good days ahead. That is why we require an application to be filled out, check vet references, and do a home visit to ensure us that she will be going to a good home where she will be loved and cherished.
