Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Eve is an adorable chocolate lab mix gal about 2 or 3 years old. She loves to ride in cars, lounge on the couch, and would just love to chase the neighborhood squirrels. However she has some challenges to overcome before she can do that.
Eve found herself in a city animal shelter - she hasn't said how she got there. But when a family came in looking for a dog, Eve glanced at them and batted her eyes and soon found herself part of their family. Sadly her joy was short lived when she was returned to the shelter due to what a vet thought was hip dysplasia. Eve soon became a resident of the back room, the room where the unwanted animals live, waiting to be taken into rescue. Eve's number soon came up, and shelter workers were desperately looking for a rescue group to take her in and give her a chance. A CARA volunteer received this plea, and stepped up to the challenge.
After many vet appointments, exams, and x-rays, it has been determined that Eve's knees are malformed, thus causing intense pain in both her knee and hip joints. This has lead to some deformity of the hips but can be managed by meds (for the rest of her years). The only way to relieve this pain is to have surgery on each knee. Eve's combined surgeries will cost CARA nearly $4000.00! The orthopedic surgeon says her pain will be greatly reduced, and gives Eve an 80% chance of full recovery. With these surgeries she can live a normal life with minimal pain. She may never be able to run much or catch Frisbees, but she will be able to take pleasant strolls through the park with a new adoptive family!
Currently Eve's pain is noticeable when she is required to stand for an extended period of time. Her rear legs become shaky and her fatigue is clearly visible. For this reason, we have scheduled Eve's first surgery for August 8, 2006, in hopes that we will raise enough funds for the second surgery and give Eve the life that she so deserves! Won't you help us help Eve?
Here's how to help.
