Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Sunset Animal Rescue requests that the yard area, for this dog,is completely surrounded by a STURDY fence.
This little black bundle of joy is living proof that no matter how badly an animal has been mistreated, they still will give unconditional love. How I wish he could talk to us and tell us just exactly what happened to him! He has obviously belonged to someone who loved him at one time in his life.
We found him abandoned, in the SC mountains, scrawny and eating bugs and who-knows-what to stay alive. We took him in the cabin and started feeding him. He was amazed at having dog food to eat, so he must have been fed only table scraps. The reason I feel he had been in a home at some time is that he was basically housebroken without us doing anything. As long as we let him out at intervals he did not have accidents. His only problem was if he was scared suddenly, he would piddle, but I feel if he became part of a family that he could trust, all that would cease.
He is being fostered in a boarding facility in his own run. But he has buddies all around him in other runs, and he really likes that. I almost named him Happy because he is always so glad to see visitors and will play for as long as you have the energy to play with him. He always looks like he is smiling! Kisses are given freely!
He is about the height of a miniature Schnauzer, but not as stocky and with longer legs. He has a black Scottie coat but it is very curly with cute mustaches and a curly beard. There is some blueish grey undercoat, too.
He is still skinny, but is about 28 lbs.Because of his activity level he will, most likely, always be lean. We think he is about 18 months old.
All vaccines are up to date, he is neutered, and micro-chipped. He loves to go for walks, ride in the car, and meet new people.
It would be fun for his new family to take him to classes and I think he would catch on quickly. He should have a sturdy fence to contain him in the yard, especially since he was found wandering in the mountains
. Is this precious boy a good fit for your family? Please email us at sunsetanimalrescue@yahoo.com and tell us to send you a questionnaire. We run the rescue out of our home, so for the safety of our family and the animals, we require a completed questionnaire before you visit. This does not obligate you or SAR.
You may call us (803) 635-4252 and leave a message, but emailing is faster. Kai F. Gunn, Executive Director, Sunset Animal Rescue, Winnsboro, SC 29180. Please be patient with us. We are a small group with only volunteers.
